NEIGHBORHOOD HEALTH PLAN is ranked #2 in Medicaid and ranked in the top 50 Commercial health plans in America by U.S. News & World Report/NCQA.(Report) - Heart Disease Weekly

Neighborhood Health Plan (NHP) ranked #2 in Medicaid and is one of the top 50 Commercial health plans in America according to a joint ranking by U.S. News & World Report and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The November 17, 2008 edition of U.S. News & World Report ranks the nation's best health plans and will be at newsstands November 10, 2008 (see also Neighborhood Health Plan).

'We pursued NCQA Accreditation and will continue to strive for this recognition because we know our members deserve the highest quality care' said Deborah Enos, President and CEO, of NHP. 'We are extremely proud of this achievement. The dedication of our staff and our entire provider network has enabled us to attain this goal.'

The U.S. News/NCQA America's Best Health Plans 2008* list is drawn from data submitted from hundreds of health plans throughout the country. Plans were evaluated on issues such as access to care, prevention efforts, treatment of diseases such as diabetes and heart disease and members were surveyed on their satisfaction to calculate an overall quality score.

'A health plan is only as good as the care it provides its members,' said Paul Mendis, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, of NHP, 'and our providers and community health centers take steps every day to improve quality. This accreditation serves to epitomize the meaning of true excellence in our clinical care management, quality service measures, and continued commitment to the good health of our members.'

Neighborhood Health Plan (NHP) provides health care programs and related services to individuals receiving benefits under Medicaid, through small business employer groups, and through Massachusetts' ground-breaking health care reform. Founded in 1986 by the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and the Greater Boston Forum for Health Action, NHP serves over 187,000 members statewide and has been recognized as a national leader in care for medically complex and severely disabled populations.
